Restaurant decoration: a guide with key examples and styles.

Every space has a story to tell. And in restaurant decoration, that story should be felt from the moment you walk through the door. Here, it doesn't matter if it's a small urban establishment or a restaurant with sea views, the environment is also part of the menu. And it has a lot to contribute to that dialogue between aesthetics, functionality, and emotion. restaurant decorationdecoration of restaurants handmade ceramics has a lot to contribute to that dialogue between aesthetics, functionality, and emotion.

From Art Antic l’Alcorawe have been helping for more than 25 years to transform restaurants into unforgettable visual experiences. And if you are thinking about how to approach the decoration of your restaurant, here we share keys, styles and real examples that can inspire you.

Restaurant decor has moved beyond generic interiors. Today, what makes the difference is the attention to detail, the coherence between the visual and the sensory, and the use of honest materials. These are some of the trends we are seeing in recent projects:

• Handmade tiles as the main feature: Unique pieces, textured, and hand-glazed. They are used for cladding, decoration, and highlighting key areas.
• Custom ceramic murals: mural art created directly on the wall, ranging from abstract compositions to figurative scenes.
• Natural materials: clay, recycled wood, plant fibers, raw fabrics. The focus is on texture, temperature, and origin.
• Iluminación escenográfica: no es solo funcional, es narrativa. Una lámpara puede convertirse en un elemento escultórico.
• Instagrammable spaces: we are not talking about a "passing trend," but about corners designed to evoke emotion, be shared, and remembered.

Each element should have a reason. And that reason should be felt.

Style defines the experience. But it should also speak the same language as your culinary offering. Here are some popular approaches that you can adapt.

Clean spaces, straight lines, neutral colors with strong accents, and vegetation. This style is perfect for contemporary spaces where comfort and light are prioritized.

Less ornamentation, more essence.

When art is part of the space, ceramics cease to be a mere background and become a voice. Handmade murals with symbolic or geometric motifs give identity and generate conversation.

Your restaurant can also be a gallery.

Combinations of metal, marble, gold accents, and deep greens, often featuring arches. This style creates a nostalgic and sophisticated atmosphere.

A journey to the past with a contemporary soul.

Perfect for warm and relaxing spaces. It relies on materials such as clay, aged wood, and indoor plants. Matte or cracked ceramic enhances the feeling of authenticity.

The charm lies in the imperfect, in the real.

Walls can be much more than just support. They are a key visual element for reinforcing style, creating contrast, or adding depth.

Hand-painted or embossed ceramics can transform a bland wall into a focal point. We can work on a conceptual idea, on the menu, on cultural elements... Each ceramic mural we create is unique, designed to integrate into the architecture of the space.

Ceramics not only cover surfaces; they also communicate.

Ceramics, metal, paint, and light can coexist. The key is balance. Well-designed mixed zones break up the monotony without being overwhelming.

Play with layers, but maintain the rhythm.

Some key points we always recommend when participating in a gastronomic interior design project:

• Define a clear and consistent style that aligns with your culinary proposal. The decor is not independent of the dining experience.
• Use materials that add texture, history, and warmth. Handmade ceramics are not only beautiful, but also durable and resistant.
• Don't be afraid to highlight an area. A well-chosen mural or wall covering can elevate the entire space.
• Design with light, not just with furniture. Consider how the space will look during the day, at night, and in photos.
• Create areas that evoke memories. Powerful visual corners that invite people to take photos and share them.

Your restaurant can be a place where people come for the food... and return for the atmosphere.
